Meet our beautiful bride Lisa, who celebrated her wedding in The Honan Chapel, UCC and Fota Island Resort in May 2022. Lisa’s dress was not what she originally thought she would go for but she fell hard the moment she tried it on! Lisa told me she knew her dress was in TW&G, we just had to find it!  Lisa looks like a total knockout in her photos… we definitely found the right dress!

We asked Lisa some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for other brides-to-be.

Lisa, our Oleana dress from Alexandra Grecco was just perfect on you! Was it the style you had in mind for yourself? How did you know it was the dress for you?

It wasn’t at all what I set out looking for. I initially went in with the idea that I wanted a simple dress with plain material and no detail. Although saying that dresses with a square neckline had been catching my eye on Instagram as they were getting popular.

I went to The White & Gold and tried on so many Alexandra Grecco dresses that I loved, and they were all so different. I went to other bridal shops afterwards and just couldn’t wait to book back in to The White & Gold again. I remember telling Sorcha on my second visit – “I don’t know which is my dress but I know it’s here.” There was no comparison with the style and quality of the dresses. I booked back in and my dress was in the Alexandra Grecco trunk show, so it wasn’t there the first time I was there and it wasn’t previously stocked in the store so I think it was fate. I LOVED the slit so much, it made it so contemporary and cool.

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

I brought my Mom and sister. Their reaction to me walking out in the dress was the reason I picked it. Sorcha was also a huge help in my decision. We were back and forth between 2 dresses, one had a V neckline and one had a square neckline, we loved them both. Sorcha with her background in fashion and styling said the square neckline suited me more and the minute she said it we all agreed, so my mind was made up!

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

Contemporary with lots of dried flowers, gold and greens.

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

I had an Alexandra Grecco simple tulle veil for the ceremony and got a hairband made in Azure Jewellery for when I took it off. All other accessories were from The White & Gold. I wore One Dame Lane baroque pearl stem earrings and I had a mini pearl gold bracelet to match.  I loved my gold Loeffler Randall Camellia heels so much! They were so comfortable and stylish, I wore them until the early morning, for the day 2 BBQ and throughout my honeymoon. I also got the matching bag which was great for day 2 and the honeymoon too. It was so handy to get all of my accessories in store.

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

Because the bust of my dress was quite sheer, I found lots of nipple covers too pinky toned or stuck out too much. I bought Nippies Skin on Selfridges and they were perfect! They were like real skin, the perfect shade and so thin. I would highly recommend them.

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

It’s hard to pick one, the whole day was such a dream. Everyone still talks about the gospel choir we had at our ceremony, they really lifted the roof off the Honan Chapel. All our guests were dancing and clapping in the church, it uplifted everyone and felt like such a celebration. Standing outside the church waiting to walk in with my bride tribe and Dad with so much noise was such a feel good moment.

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

Try and wrap up your appointments and jobs 2 days before and give yourself the day before to just enjoy the excitement, and go out for dinner with your family and bridal party.

Get a blow-dry the day before so its easier to style your hair on the day with no cows licks or flyaway hairs. Smile and enjoy everything you planned so long for!

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

I couldn’t have been happier with all of my suppliers, they were so easy to be around on the day. They made it such an enjoyable experience.

If you had bridesmaids where did you choose their dresses from?

We got them in Folkster and we were so happy with them. I knew I didn’t want floor length gowns and loved the chic look of satin midi dresses. And I’m obsessed with green at the moment. I got their gold heels in Folkster too.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

We had the best time and were made to feel so special. It was the personal touches of prosecco on arrival and my name on the chalkboard to welcome me. It is so bright in there and the décor is gorgeous, it is easy to imagine yourself on the day when you’re standing in the dresses. They are kept in immaculate condition. It really was like no other place we had been to, I didn’t want to leave.

Thank you for your extremely kind words Lisa. It was such a pleasure meeting you and your gorgeous mom and sisters and helping you find your dream dress. I am so thrilled you chose to be part of our White & Gold gang and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together ♥ Sorcha
