Meet our beautiful bride Deirdre who celebrated her wedding in Hayfield manor. Deirdre’s dress was exactly what she had in mind when she visited The White & Gold! Clean, simple lines were the brief  and Deirdre definitely nailed that look, we absolutely adore this dress on her!

We asked Deirdre some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for other brides-to-be.

Deirdre, our Lilou dress from Alexandra Grecco was just perfect on you! Was it the style you had in mind for yourself? How did you know it was the dress for you?

My dress choice was what I had envisioned wearing on our wedding day. I wanted a dress that was
understated and that didn’t swamp me as I’m small! Trying on lots of dresses in this style in The
White and Gold that had different cuts helped me to figure out which neckline suited me best. I
never would have guessed that I would have gone with a deep V neckline. I absolutely loved the
simplicity of the Lilou Gown and that it was backless!

I felt like a bride the second I put on the Lilou Gown. I hadn’t had this feeling on previous shopping
trips or with other dresses! My only worry was that that the dress was a bit risky with the deep V
neckline and being backless. It’s a big decision, and I needed input from Sorcha and the mums to
make the final call!

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

I brought my mum and my mother-in-law to the bridal appointment. They struck a lovely balance of
being honest and offering their opinions while honoring that it was my choice. When I tried on the
Lilou Gown, I could tell that they loved it, and that it was the definite winner! Their responses gave
me the confidence to say yes to the dress!

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

We wanted our wedding to be meaningful and minimalist. Hayfield Manor as a venue speaks for itself and so we felt that less is more. We went with white, green and a pop of pink as our colour.
scheme. My mother-in-law helped with the flowers and organizing the venue on the morning of the
wedding which meant that everything had a really personal touch.

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

In keeping with the style of dress, I wanted my accessories to be understated. I styled my hair with a
simple pearl and flower pin from Megan Therese and a long plain tulle veil from Alexandra Grecco
(The White and Gold).
I wore pearl drop earrings from One Dame Lane (The White and Gold). In the evening when I took
the veil off, I popped on a pearl back lace from The White and Gold. I have worn these pieces so
many times since the wedding!
As I have a wide fit foot, I struggled to find bridal shoes. After buying (and returning!) lots of shoes;
I settled on a wide fit pair of off-white satin slingback shoes from ASOS. They were super
comfortable!

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

As my dress was slinky, finding underwear that worked was a challenge. I went to the Zipyard in
Nenagh for my alterations. They have a wonderful selection of underwear solutions and Donna was able to advise me on which options may be best suited to the dress. If the dress is slinky, I would
advise trying on the underwear early in the alterations process to avoid the stress of trying to find
something last minute (like me!). The silicone nipple covers are fantastic if you don’t need much
support but consider double sided sticky tape for additional security!

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

There were so many beautiful moments. I will always remember how emotional my dad was seeing
me in the dress for the first time and walking me down the aisle. Like most brides, I was shaky
walking down the aisle. All of that melted away when Jack gave me a big hug when I reached the top
of the aisle and as we held hands making our vows.

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

The wedding day passes so quickly. We went for breakfast together the morning of the wedding and took a
few moments together in our room before dinner. We treasure those moments where it was just us. Try to
carve out some time to just be together as the day will fly by.

Who did your hair, make up and photography?
Hair: Chole Gough (Hair91)
Make up: Ruthanna Crowley
Photography: Trish Fitzpatrick (Insight Photography)
Flowers: Mandy Quigley (Fethard Flowers by Mandy)

If you had bridesmaids where did you choose their dresses from?

I had one bridesmaid, and her dress was from Folkster.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

From the moment I stepped into The White and Gold, I felt in very safe and stylish hands! Such a
beautiful space and selection of dresses and accessories. We had a short engagement and so getting a
dress made to order with 4 months to go to the wedding was a challenge. Where other bridal shops
almost laughed at my timeline, Sorcha made it all happen seamlessly! Sorcha also managed to get the
pearl backlace to me on time when it had been sold out and needed to be picked up on a bank
holiday weekend and the shop was closed. To say Sorcha goes above and beyond for her brides is an
understatement!

Thank you for your extremely kind words Deirdre. It was such a pleasure meeting you and  and helping you find your dream dress. I am so thrilled you chose to be part of our White & Gold gang and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together ♥ Sorcha
