Meet our beautiful bride Aine who celebrated her wedding in St. Michael’s Church, Rathbarry with the party continuing on to Dunmore House, Clonakilty in September 2022. Aine’s dress was not what she originally had in mind when she visited The White & Gold but she told us she could not stop thinking about it once she tried it on. Looking at Aine absolutely stunning everyone in these pictures I can see why!

We asked Aine some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for other brides-to-be.

Aine, our Lotus dress from Alexandra Grecco was just perfect on you! Was it the style you had in mind for yourself? How did you know it was the dress for you?

My first bridal appointment was in The White & Gold and I couldn’t be happier that it was. I had gone to the appointment with a dress in mind and once I tried it on it didn’t suit me at all.  I very quickly narrowed down my wedding dress style with Sorcha’s help and before I knew it, I had selected my top three dresses… one being my wedding dress. I wasn’t surprised by my choice looking back, my wedding dress was so me!

It was always in the back of my mind and when I tried on other dresses nothing compared. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and couldn’t wait to get back down to The White & Gold to fit it on again. I just fell in love with the silk satin material and how it fell so beautifully and more importantly how I felt in it. After that appointment I knew I had found the one. It was the best feeling in the world to finally say yes to my dress!

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

I brought my Mum and my sister. It was such a lovely day out that I’ll always treasure. Sorcha was so kind and welcoming. My sister was expecting at the time and Sorcha really shared in the excitement and got to meet Caelan, my little nephew when we collected my dress a few months later. So, technically Caelan came along with us for the journey too which was very special. I think I knew my style and what I loved but having Mum and Ciara there and hearing their reactions when I first walked out in my dress solidified my decision.

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

Our overall wedding aesthetic was simple, modern romance. I always remember going through my Mum and Dad’s wedding album and just loved how timeless and romantic it all was and I wanted to tie in elements of that – like Ian and the groomsmen in the black-tie suits and the classic cars. We had blush pink, golds, and brown tones for our colour scheme. My flowers by the amazing Flicky – Howehill Flowers also mirrored the simple, paired back romantic style.

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

I accessorised with a plain veil by Alexandra Grecco. My earrings and headpiece were by the very talented Lori Muldoon. I wore my headpiece in the evening when I removed my veil. I loved how the detail of my earrings tied in with the pleats on my wedding shoes. My shoes were the pearl Camellia Shoes by Loeffler Randall. I loved them from when I first spotted them during my very first bridal appointment. I also had to get the Rayne bag in pearl to match. My shoes were so so comfortable. I had them on from that morning right up until the early hours of the following morning, they saw me through all the busyness of the day and dancing that night.

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

Underwear was quite tricky with my dress because the material is so fine, and it is backless. I purchased stick-on cups from ByeBra. My underwear was the Commando seamless thong from Brown Thomas and it was perfect. You couldn’t see any lines. Double sided tape was also essential for the cowl neckline.

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

There are so many special moments from the day that I love to think back on. I loved the morning with my bridesmaids, Mum, and flower girls. We hired a self-drive green MG for the day. A special moment for me was Dad driving me to the church. I bought him a pair of old school Ray-Bans and he looked a million dollars driving the car. Also, when myself and Ian drove from the church just after we were married. It was so special having that one-on-one time to take it all in and get used to seeing a ring on Ian’s finger!

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

It would be to celebrate all the little milestones along the way. The build up and planning is all part of the excitement. It can become overwhelming as the time draws closer, but it all comes together on the day. It is the best time and day of your lives so treasure every minute of it.

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

Shauna Donoghue from Wildflower Dublin did my hair. She is incredible at what she does! She just got my style from the get-go and was such a breath of fresh air. My family and bridesmaids adored her on the morning. She was so warm and calming.

Breifne Keogh did my makeup, and she is so talented. When I saw my makeup that morning I was blown away. I wish she could paint my face every day.  Breifne was equally so calming, and we just had the loveliest morning thanks to them both.

Our photographer was Emma Kenny, and I honestly can’t say enough amazing things about her. She is a true artist! We met Emma the evening before for a photoshoot on the beach and instantly felt like we were with a friend we had known for years. I fell in love with Emma’s work when we first began looking for our photographer. Our wedding photos were really important to me, and I felt so lucky to have had Emma capture our day!

If you had bridesmaids where did you choose their dresses from?

I had an exact style of bridesmaid dresses I liked. I wanted them to be very similar to my dress with the silk satin and cowl neckline. Myself and my bridesmaids went off for a weekend in Dublin shopping and found the dresses in The One by Sinead Corcoran. They are by Moira Hughes and thankfully the girls loved them just as much as I did. They were so beautiful on the day.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

I loved our many visits to The White & Gold, so many special memories were made there. Sorcha was so welcoming and went above and beyond for me. You’re made to feel like the only bride in the world when you’re there and Sorcha was amazing in offering her expertise and style tips. It was just the loveliest experience! Sorcha, Nessa, and everyone in The White and Gold are the dream team, and you know they just adore what they do. Can’t thank you enough for everything x

Thank you for your extremely kind words Aine. It was such a pleasure meeting you and your gorgeous mom, sister and of course baby Caelan. It wa san honour to help you find your dream dress. I am so thrilled you chose to be part of our White & Gold gang and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together ♥ Sorcha
