Meet our beautiful bride Mary  who celebrated her wedding at Honan Chapel in UCC. The Newlyweds then went on to celebrate their wedding at The River Lee hotel. Mary had always imagined an intimate city wedding. Mary  fell in love with her dress the moment she tried it on, it was such a yes moment for all of us!  The Sorcha dress is designed and made exclusively for The White & Gold, no where else in the world sells this dress… there is something very special knowing only our lovely brides get to wear this beautiful dress. Mary styled he’s to perfection and looks absolutely stunning in these wedding pics!

We asked  Mary some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for other brides-to-be.

Mary, our Sorcha dress from Maria Fekih was just perfect on you! Was it the style you had in mind for yourself? How did you know it was the dress for you?

I wanted a modern, elegant dress that was simple but also classic. I have been
following the White and Gold Instagram account and I knew it was a great place to start.
Little did I know it would be a one and done situation! I had a screenshot of the dress on
my phone, and when I saw it on the rail I just knew. I tried on a few dresses, and I liked
them all, but the Maria Fekih dress had my heart. I didn’t go anywhere else, she was
“the one”.

At the risk of sounding like a complete romantic, I knew pretty much from the second I
put it on. It felt very “me”, and I just went with the feeling.

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

My best friend Jennie came with me. It was my first bridal appointment, and it was supposed to be a fun thing to do before Christmas! Jennie started crying when I came
out in my dress (I hope she won’t mind me saying that!), and we had that moment of
excitement, so she was a great help.

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

Our overall aesthetic/style was boho, romantic and elegant. We chose green tones with gold and shades of white and cream. We both love the summertime, and thankfully the weather cooperated, and we had plenty of sunshine which added nicely to our day.

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

I am a lover of accessories, so I adored browsing through all the beautiful pieces you had in the store. I would happily wear every single thing.

Sorcha picked out a stunning Alexandra Grecco veil for me, which I wore with the Nell flower crown hairpiece by Blue Meadow, also TW&G. For my jewellery, I wore my northern star necklace from Chupi, tiny heart stud earrings and a vintage Ruby ring that my Mum gave me. As we had a summer wedding, it was a great excuse for a new pair of sunglasses. My lovely husband got me Prada cat eye sunglasses as a gift. I chose the gold Camellia shoes by Loeffler Randall, and I have worn them nearly every weekend since our wedding. I love gold, so the shoes have matched so many outfits and I can honestly say they have survived the comfort test. I love them.

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

I went to Urata designs for my dress alterations and Urata advised me on my underwear
choices. My dress was open at the back, so Urata added some cups to the dress which eliminated any difficult bra decisions! I purchased some seamless shorts from Urata also, which were super lightweight and looked smooth and line free through the dress.

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

There were so many special moments from the day. We had an intimate wedding, so
spending time with our closest friends and family and truly enjoy every minute was
amazing.

I walked down the aisle to “All I want is You” by U2, and I think standing outside the
church, arm in arm with my Dad, and hearing the musician play the start of that song is
something I’ll never forget. It was one of those “oh my god this is really happening”
moments. I had a lot of special moments with Cian that day, but when we were walking through the grounds of UCC on our own just before our photographs, we had our first proper hug as a married couple, and it felt particularly special. We used to go on similar walks nine years earlier, nervously clutching cups of coffee and hoping not to be spotted by our friends!

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

Take people up on their offers of help-they mean it.

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

If you had bridesmaids where did you choose their dresses from?

I had four amazing bridesmaids and we got their dresses in Folkser in Dundrum.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

I had such a lovely experience. Sorcha and Nessa were incredibly kind and thoughtful, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their help. Two of the loveliest people with a beautiful store to match. The girls are the best.

Thank you for your extremely kind words Mary. It was so lovely meeting you and even more of an honour having you wear one of our dresses. I am so thrilled to have you in our White & Gold gang and we all wish you both a lifetime of happiness together

♥ Sorcha
