Meet our beautiful bride Holly who celebrated their wedding in Killarney! The service was held in St.Mary’s church and the reception afterwards was in The Brehon. Holly’s dress was not what she originally had in mind when she visited us but on her second appointment back in the store with me we all had that magical Yes moment! Holly looks beyond beautiful in her dress, it is very obvious how comfortable and how like herself she felt. I love that even though it was a crazy wild and stormy day, Holly got the most naturally beautiful photos full of laughter and love.

We asked Holly some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for other brides-to-be.

Holly, our Siw dress from Maria Fekih was just perfect on you! Was it the style you had in mind for yourself? How did you know it was the dress for you?

Going into dress shopping I did not have a clear vision of what I was looking for and
was hanging onto a dream of putting on a dress and just knowing it was the one. I tried
on a couple of different dresses and found that a lot of styles that I though I would like
were not for me – until I went to the White & Gold. It was on my first fitting here that I
learned that a simple dress was what was going to be my wedding style.

In general, my style would be quite classic and in the end, my wedding dress reflected
this perfectly and I’m so happy that it worked out that way! It meant that I was so
comfortable in it for the day and truly did feel my best in it.

I visited The White & Gold twice and it was on my second visit that Sorcha suggested
that I try on the Maria Fekih SIW dress. It was one of those hidden gems that I did not
even see when I was browsing but when I tried it on it just all fell into place.

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

For my first appointment I had my mom and my aunt Yvonne. I tried on some beautiful
dresses that day and while we did not leave with the one, we left knowing it was there.
The second time, my mom and my sister Amy came who was also my Maid of Honour
came. They both know me and my style so well that once they saw it on, they knew it
was the one also.
Both times I found it great to have people to not only help me find the dress, but also to
share the excitement. It is such a big moment so it was so lovely to have them all there.

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

Our wedding style was extremely classic as we went for a formal black-tie approach to
the day. It is rare to have an occasion where you can go completely glam, and I wanted
all of our guests to feel just that.

Regarding aesthetic, as we had an October wedding, we wanted it to reflect the season.
All our flowers and bridesmaid dresses stuck to a rich jewel colour theme. The
bridesmaids wore emerald green dresses with gold accessories and our flowers
throughout the day had a lot of green foliage, with pops of burgundy and peach. So
many people admired the floristry and to be honest that was all down to the incredible
Danielle from Tie the Knot weddings. She took my general vision and took it to another
level.

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

I ended up styling the dress in two different ways to have a ceremony look and then a
more party look for the evening celebrations.
For the ceremony, I wore Jimmy Choo pearl Sacaria heels, a drop pair of pearl One
Dame Lane earrings and a pearl Love Story bracelet, both of which were from The
White & Gold. My husband, Philip, bought me a beautiful eternity ring as a wedding gift
which I wore proudly for the day too. I also wore the most gorgeous veil which had
pearls and gold sparkles on it from The White and Gold.
For the evening, I wore gold Loeffler Randall mules, Ginkko One Dame Lane earrings
from the White & Gold, my pearl Love Story bracelet and a Christian Dior hair pin.
Thankfully, both pairs of shoes were extremely comfortable, and I was able to dance the
night away.
I loved that I was able to style the dress two different ways, have two different looks but
not having to change my dress – that I did not want to take off!

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

My seamstress was an absolute gem and honestly though of everything when it came
to underwear! She recommended that I get a regular t-shirt bra and she then tailored it
to have one strap as my dress was one shouldered. This meant that it was strapless on
one side, but on the other, I still had the support of a strap that was hidden under the
cap sleeve.
I also wore Spanx Thinstincts 2.0 High Waisted Shorts. They were so comfortable and
did not budge for the day.

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

There were so many special moments throughout the day that I relive daily!
Some that I will never forget including spending the night before with my bridesmaids,
my dad seeing me in my dress for the first time, walking down the aisle and entering the
banqueting suite in The Brehon and being totally overwhelmed that we were so lucky to
have all of our favourite people there celebrating the day with us.
All I can say is thank god that Sean Sharpe and B&G Weddings where there to capture
all those gorgeous moments and more because I will cherish them forever! It’s so nice
that we can look back on them and relive it time and time again.

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

It is quite simple – you do you!
Do not feel that you have to conform to what is expected of a bride. The engagement,
build up and day is about you and your husband and do not loose sight of that. At times,
I got caught up in what was expected like having the moment of finding the perfect
dress and trying to enjoy every second of the build up of the final few weeks before the
wedding but in reality, you are juggling a lot of balls and trying to finalize details with all
your suppliers and vendors.
Just remember that prize at the end of it all. Your wedding is going to be the most
incredible day and you are marrying the love of your life. Celebrate that in a way that
reflects ye and kick off yer married life in style.

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

If you had bridesmaids where did you choose their dresses from?

My bridesmaids are so glam that I let them pick the dress! We loved the dresses on TH&TH and
Heather then found the Bardot 2.0 dress in and all of the girls loved it and picked the emerald
green colour. What was so nice was they all were able to customize it to what they liked. Amy
and Heather wore it with the off the shoulder straps, Eimear wore it strapless, and Katie had it
with capped sleeves. It worked a dream.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

From the second I had my first appointment to when I collected my dress and
accessories, it was nothing short of spectacular! Sorcha and Nessa are the most fabulous people and make the experience so special through their expertise and sheer kindness.

The brands that are stocked in The White & Gold are so unique that it has created an
absolute bridal haven that any bride is lucky to visit. If I had my time over, I would just
cut to the chase and go straight there.
Thank you both so much for making my bridal experience so memorable!

Thank you for your extremely kind words Holly. It was such a pleasure meeting you and all your gorgeous family. It was an honour to help you find your dream dress. I am so thrilled you chose to be part of our White & Gold gang and we wish you both a lifetime of happiness together.  ♥ Sorcha
