Meet our gorgeous bride Maeve, who celebrated her wedding in West Cork. Maeve got the immediate yes this is THE dress feeling as soon as she slipped on the Romy gown by Alexandra Grecco. I still remember everyone’s reaction when she walked out in it!

We asked Maeve some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for our future TW&G brides-to-be.

Maeve, you looked absolutely gorgeous in your dress. Was it the style you had in mind for yourself?

I adored my dress. It was not what I set out looking for but now that I think about it, it had all the best parts of different dress types that I had my eye on – I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect dress. I wasn’t sure about the slit detail before trying it on as I thought that was not for me but it really made the dress – so different and so perfect!

When did you know it was the dress for you?

Almost immediately – and then when I saw my Mom and my friend’s faces I just knew it was the one!

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

My Mom and my friends – they were so great in helping me decide. It was such a relaxed experience – just a few tears when deciding on the one. It was an easy decision once I had that Romy dress on!

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

I’m not really sure! I think a combination of contemporary and traditional with a garden theme!?

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

I wore gold teardrop earrings from the Loulourie x Retro Flame collaboration and a gold bangle from Applebys which was a previous birthday gift from my husband. My shoes were the most amazing Loeffler Randall Gold Camellias – my favourite accessory! I had them on all day and night, and again for our Day 2 celebrations – I basically wore them for 2 days straight and they were so comfortable! I will get so much wear out of them over the next few years too – and when we finally get to go on our honeymoon.

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

Talk to whoever is doing your alterations – they are amazing and can do almost anything with your dress. The main thing is to be comfortable. Something that you think might do the trick might not be the best option. So definitely trial any underwear that you usually don’t wear – try on a night out etc. and speak to the person who is doing your dress alterations – my girl was amazing for this!

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

We honestly laughed and smiled for the entire day – it was contagious! There were so many special moments from the day from getting ready with the girls and my family that morning to the sing song that went on long into the night. One particularly special moment was walking down the aisle with my Dad and meeting Brian at the top – definitely a moment I will remember forever and just that feeling of being surrounded my love.

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

Enjoy every minute and really try to be in the moment – it goes so so fast!

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

Dream hair by Audrey Cashman from Upstyle Junkie. My make up was by Charlotte O’ Mahony and my bridesmaid’s make up was by Jessica May ParkerOur photographer was the amazing Mark Coombes.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

We had a gorgeous time in the White & Gold. Sorcha made us feel so relaxed and so comfortable and was so helpful in providing advice and guidance on the dresses. The whole experience was amazing – we didn’t want to leave the shop! We had the best day in The White & Gold and continued to celebrate in Kinsale after!

Thank you Maeve for your kind words. It was such a pleasure meeting you and hearing how happy you were with your dress. You looked so gorgeous and I am so thrilled you chose to be part of our White & Gold gang. Wishing you both so much happiness together
