Meet our beautiful bride Sue  who celebrated her wedding at Sue’s family home in Enniskerry, Co.Wicklow. We  met Sue at one of our Dublin pop-ups and absolutely loved this look on her then and especially now we see it styled up so beautifully! Sue’s wedding is an absolute treat for the eyes!

We asked  Sue some questions about her wedding style, how she knew her dress was the one for her and if she has any advice for other brides-to-be.

Sue, our Anja bodice and Eden skirt was just perfect on you! Was it the style you had in mind for yourself? How did you know it was the dress for you?

Exactly what I had thought about having, it always had to be 100% silk for me 🙂 but couldn’t find any styles I really liked and then I discovered
Prea James. It was actually a bodice and skirt combo. The first time trying it on in your Dublin pop-up.

Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?

My Mum, I would have brought my sister too but she was stuck in lockdown in Australia … thankfully made it home for the big day as Australia opened up travel again.

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

We kept it super simple and modern, and wanted the view of the sugarloaf to be part of the aesthetic. Loads of candles, festoon lighting, Black and Glass trimmed lanterns, olive branch and eucalyptus, earthy wood tones, ivory cheesecloth runners, black candle holders, minimalist menus. LPM Bohemia provided the tent, Frog Prince did our florals. As the wedding was at home we had ordered a lot of our own decor bits or used old furniture that had been passed down through generations to create little seating areas.

How did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

Maison Sabeen Earrings from TW&G, tennis bracelet which was a gift from my husband on the wedding morning, Shoes: Jimmy Choo Saeda 85’s in Linen. Loved my shoes but definitely not a dance all night shoe as the anklet strap started to dig in after hours of dancing 🙂 My veil was my ‘something borrowed’ from my sister in-law.

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

Spanx were the only option to give a sleek look to the silk skirt.

Any special moments you treasure from the day?

SO MANY but there was an amazing sunset around 9pm and I remember being with my husband getting photos and walking back towards the tent taking it all in, watching everyone have a good time and being so proud of the fact we pulled off a wedding from home.

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

Hard to just give one but it’s going to be stressful planning a wedding, especially if you are planning it from home – so ride the wave and remember to enjoy the special build up with your partner. There were a few things that went wrong for us on the day or in the lead up and we didn’t care because no one else knew what was going to happen and there was no expectation. Everyone is just happy to be there with friends and family. It’s all about the people but good music, good food and plenty of drink will make for an incredible wedding. I wish we could do it all over again….not the planning part, but the actual day 🙂

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

Shauna and Shannon from Wildflower in Ranelagh – they were so amazing on the day and made the morning so special for us. Celine Slamon for Makeup, she was incredible. I had the best morning getting ready with my bridesmaids and Mum.

If you had bridesmaids where did you choose their dresses from?

Bec & Bridge. I really wanted to get black dresses for my bridesmaids but I am very fussy. My sister found these gorgeous viscose Bec & Bridge dresses in Australia and I was out there in May so got to try it on and fell in love and then ordered them all then 🙂
My Mum also wore black from Irish designer Roisin Linnane and it all worked so nicely with our colour palette for the day.
